Today, was a special yearbook class. Instead of the same old, same old (which isn't a bad thing). I was apart of the multiple man crew that tallied up the first half of the senior superlatives. The process like I already stated is not yet complete, we hope to finish it up sometime soon as it is a long process.

IB Photos have taken of the Senior IB English class who are currently performing readers theater of the Shakespeare play Macbeth. I will most likely end up editing them and then upload them to Studio Works

Last class I was not at school therefore,  did not participate in class.

Zach and I constructed identical pages as we are both working on the IB page together. pictures were not taken because both of us forgot cameras and therefore cannot be edited and posted on the page. If you have any suggestions, please inform us. 

Also, I was looking through the superlative page and couldn't help but notice that there was no Most Musically Inclined section. From a musician and student standpoint, I find it odd as Most Musically Inclined has been in every school yearbook I have looked at so far.

Today's class was spent blogging about what I did last time, because I forgot to blog once I left the doors of WAIS. I consulted with my partner over pictures, as we are both working on IB together, and there are not pictures yet.

It might be late, but it is better than nothing. On November 8, 2010 Yearbook class, I spent most of the class editing the Interact page, and spent the remaining time to edit Tyler and Zach's letters. Why I forgot? Was the newest installment of Call of Duty on my mind? Yes. But it is most likely due to me forgetting to.

11/4/10 Reflection

This 6 weeks I was not living up to the standards I had originally committed myself to, at the beginning on the semester. After missing a class, I never caught up with the blogs, and I never bothered to fully read the blog. I, am irresponsible for these errors, and I am not holding anyone but myself accountable. I constantly preached that the yearbook was lacking a driving force from unmotivated students and I seemingly found myself grouped with them. The next 6 weeks (and rest of the year) I will dedicate myself to not duplicate the performance I have been giving thus far.

I previously met with the Interact president last class, and informed me that photographs of the club have not been taken yet at the 2 events they had attended this year. Since, I was last years historian, the club gave me the a-ok to use pictures taken at events that took place last year as long as I cropped out students who are no longer at the school.

Today I added a Gadget into my blog as I seemingly ignored everything that wasn't addressed to Digital Artist's. Today, I'm not able to accomplish much, as I'm to leave class to help DJ the middle school dance since the original DJ decided it was a great idea to not show up.

The "Not my job" is an aspect we all as humans, can relate to in life. If we see something wrong happen that doesn't directly affect us we simply say "It's not my job". As this relates to life, it therefore must relate to yearbook. The videos purpose is so that this years yearbook is the best yearbook WAIS has ever produced, and in order to meet this goal everyone must be willing to help one another out, even if it is not in our jurisdiction and work without playing dumb or acting selfish to the entire team.

Photoshop tutorials

These were the photoshop tutorials I worked on today. Today was a touch up as I haven't used the program since my computer died last year. As I glanced through the tutorials, I had no idea that photoshop is where some logos are created, and has shown me that photoshop is a gateway to unleash my creativity and I plan to utilize it to my fullest potential.

We/They Don't get it

The Yearbook is  self-driven. There are no benefits whatsoever if you sold 1000 yearbooks or 100. The goal of the yearbook is to make it the best yearbook with the tools you are given. There isn't any pay, no hours, no incentives, it is a student driven campaign in order to successfully look back at the past without feeling dumb for not correcting that darn typo.

• Define your position - I am a digital artist. 
• How might your position interact with others? As a Digital Artist, I would most likely interact with the photographer in order to receive work to work on, and Design Staffers to have a thought in mind  
• What is our primary and secondary market audience for the yearbook? The primary market would be high school students as it is more flexible for high school students to pay for a yearbook, then middle students who are our secondary market audience. 
• What service has yearbook offered the school? Is it enough? What else can we do? The yearbook offers students memories, and with a little additional touches students can be fairly represented. 
• List any school activities or clubs you are a part of. I am apart of Interact and Model United Nations currently. 
• Can you think of, and list, what activities and clubs your friends are involved in? MUN, Interact, Math Club, Med Club, NHS.
• Can you drive for weekend/evening events? Or are you only available for after school events? Yes, I am available on weekends unless something comes up and that rarely happens.

I might be agreeing with Tyler and Zach on this, but I truly believe these are the best catch phrases and sayings. Everything else either does not make sense, or too repetitive. These also sound like something I would make up on my own, they are all a simple play on words and I attempt to incorporate these into my writing. 


After examining each yearbook thoroughly, the first one from Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks, Calif. was really my favorite. Yes, it was a bit basic, but I guess I'm a plain guy. Every other yearbook I looked through had over femenint features. I also liked how the yearbook meshed in the colors of the school, of orange, blue, and green. The only suggestion I would make is that the student candids were not in color, where it seems a bit obsolete to use student candids in black and white.

Two Legal documents

These two legal documents were hard to get through, as my interest in the law diminished last year after taking a semester of AP Government. I am aware that it was passed around in order to make sure we know our limitations as journalists creating this year's yearbook. Last year these rules were not presented and many students got away with doing a job that was not up to the performance level they were all truly capable of achieving.

Aaron, the newest member of the 3 time local battle of the band winners The Tokyo Driftin Brosefs is seen playing his first gig on keyboards at the bands opening gig this past Saturday. Their former keyboardist and lead vocalist Austin left after accepting a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. William, the bands lead guitarist has slid over to take Max's former position of lead vocals and plans to take the band in a direction he claims "take them in a direction, Austin couldn't possibly dreamed of". Austin's response to William's claims was "(laughs) That's William for you, the man believes the sun shines and sets one him (laughs).

Past Yearbooks 2

The second yearbook I looked at, was the 2005 Memorial High School Yearbook. It was pretty amazing as it was one of the first real modern yearbooks I have seen besides our yearbooks, and then again we are not exactly a real high school. I feel that there should be more of an emphasis over the school's campus this year, as in this 2005 yearbook I felt like it was very vibrant and live. The reason I urge this, is because last year I was slicing footage of the school once it opened and it was so fresh and young (even though we really aren't young) but in the beginning there was so much youth and promise as to where now we've not taken care of out garden in the front and trees in the meantime wearing them down.

Past yearbooks

I was deeply intrigued by the Westchester Volume 11 yearbook. As I looked through, it helped me understand the concept of what a yearbook is truly meant to be. We might not think about it now, but the yearbook is a time capsule. As I was drifting through the extensive yearbook which is also something I noticed, the culture and fashion was amazing. My parents didn't go to high school here, and they don't have any photos of them in high school it was just kinda nostalgic even I wasn't really there seeing all of those funky hairy styles that were considered cool, and the extremely shorts that were okay to wear without backlash then.

Yearbook position

Well, I do not mind being an advertiser, but I would have preferred something in Digital Art. I am more comfortable with editing photos, but I really want to be involved with both jobs as I wanna continue to work on my video editing skills while touching up on my photo editing.

September 1, 2010 blog

I was hardly impressive during this assignment, I'm pretty sure I let the most errors slide on this assignment. The last time I took editing and proof reading seriously was when I was in elementary school. This assignment pretty much helped me realize that I am to be nowhere near editing and proof reading the yearbook, or it will contain as many or in fact a lot more grammatical errors. I'm a man that prefers to type correctly, but as I saw this is way different than being able to proofread and edit stories. This is attributed to my lack of focus, on the paper due to myself constantly multi-tasking, such as listening to music on assignments.

Some of the angles in the photo were taken with other things in mind, like in the first one the two girls are working on something. The photographer could have easily decided to just photograph the girls working and instead decided to get a picture of what they had been working on. Some of the others were also taken from far away and zoomed like the cheerleaders and swimmer, if the picture was taken of them up close, it would not have been as natural.

Rule of thirds are photos that are taken where the people are not in the center and not taking up any attention as they are photographed on the left or right. Leading lines can also be related with the rule of thirds as the line in the images can be in range and out of.

Framing is a method most likely done where there is something that takes the attention out of the actually center, or could it possibly be the person is taking the attention of the objects in front of them? Maybe Framing is supposed to create perspective and depth in the photo truly leaving it to the eye of the beholder.

In the last assignment, no photo follows the same rule, they all share a center of attention and retain decent lighting that makes the picture what it is truly supposed to be. 

My Yearbook positions..

The 4 jobs I would be interested in applying for is 

1. Advertiser - I was in charge along with Tyler Enloe in making a yearbook video that pleased the student body. After working on other various video projects, I am more familiar with iMovie than I was last year, and the best way for me to show my full potential.

2. Digital Artist - I have been using Adobe Photoshop since I was 12

3. Photographer - A job I have a less passion for as so many other students are also interested in the job. 

4. Design Staff, after last years lack of communication with the page layouts, I wanna commit more to helping out with the yearbooks design rather than content. 

I would also be interested in a Director position, depending on whether I am more informed of what the job is. 

Homgram Says

Today's hunt was pretty simple as this is not my first time using a Mac, as these were the same computers used last year, just slightly upgraded with more up to date software. I'm still iffy over the fact we all have to use a district issued email, as it just feels weird I will not be logging into the same email account I have been using since the 8th grade. I realized sulking over the semi-loss of freedom, I knew it was time to move on. While signing up for an account at blogger.com, the most difficult part of today for me was coming up with a username, because it's a one time deal and you cannot go back on it, like committing into a relationship you don't want to be into. I decided finally, I shall pay tribute to our previous mentor Wayne Webb. To basically summarize this experience, decision making was inevitable as 80% of a man's job is making decisions, the other 20% is luck.
